Chemical tanker market one of the few stable shipping markets in 2001 – Deutsche Schiffsbank

According to the 2001 Annual Report of the Deutsche Schiffsbank, the chemical trade continued its long-term growth in 2001 and was one of the few relatively stable international shipping markets that year.

As few chemical tankers were ordered, results improved, in particular on the long-distance route Europe-Far East and also in the European regional chemical tanker trade. After a brief reduction in transport demand during the fourth quarter of 2001 due to general economic trends, employment prospects look cautiously optimistic while newbuilding activity remains quite moderate, reports Deutsche Schiffsbank.
