New Chairman elected as North American Panel meets in Stamford

The 29th session of INTERTANKO’s North American Panel took place this week in Stamford, Connecticut and proved highly successful with 50 attendees made up of Members, Associate Members and guests.

Graham Westgarth, INTERTANKO’s Chairman, provided the panel with an overview of the major issues that the association is addressing to assist Members, the most important being the financial sustainability of the tanker industry. Jeff Lantz of the US Coast Guard gave the panel a presentation on the latest USCG issues affecting the tanker industry.

David Cotterell, Director of OCIMF, informed the panel about OCIMF’s most recent activities, while Kathi Stanzel, INTERTANKO’s Deputy Managing Director, provided the panel with a comprehensive update of environmental issues on the INTERTANKO agenda.

INTERTANKO’s Managing Director, Joe Angelo, reported on the most recent developments at the Association’s Executive Committee and Council meetings and facilitated a lively discussion on piracy. All of these presentations can be seen on INTERTANKO’s website, here.

Finally, the Panel said goodbye to Richard du Moulin, who had served as panel Chairman for the past 13 years. The Panel thanked him for his dedicated service and excellent leadership and then unanimously elected Robert Johnston of OSG as the new Panel Chairman.

The next meeting of the North American Panel will take place in Houston, Texas this autumn.
