INTERTANKO INFORMS EQUASIS THAT ‘RUSTBUCKET OF THE MONTH’ IS NOT PART OF ITS MEMBERSHIP FLEET

INTERTANKO would like to point out that the tanker Nunki - currently touted as the European port state control authority's "Rustbucket of the Month" - is NOT part of the Association¹s membership fleet, as is indicated in the EQUASIS database.

As reported in the media, the 56,048 dwt tanker Nunki (IMO No. 7381764) was found to have 90 deficiencies when inspected in Amsterdam recently under the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control regime. Because 40 of the deficiencies were identified as grounds for detention, the port will only release the vessel to be towed to a scrap or repair yard. As a result of this alarming number of deficiencies, the Paris MOU has labelled the ship as its "Rustbucket of the Month".

The tanker is also entered on the recently commissioned EQUASIS ship information database (www.equasis.org). However, EQUASIS erroneously lists the ship as being registered with INTERTANKO. The Association has contacted EQUASIS to point out the error, and has been assured that the information in the  database will be rectified shortly.
