At its recent meeting in February INTERTANKO's Communications and PR Committee noted that from recent incidents which have attracted media attention it appears that much of the membership do not have adequate in-house procedures for handling media relations. Media awareness is important to protect the company's reputation and continued commercial operations. INTERTANKO has arranged two highly focused half-day media awareness workshops: in Stamford (in connection with the meeting of the North American Panel/Connecticut Maritime Association), and London. A workshop will also be arranged in Hong Kong, China in November in connection with the autumn Council meetings.

These workshops give practical advice on dealing with incoming phone calls and in appearing before the cameras. A short seminar and workshop cannot train you to be an expert responder, but we can show some of the pitfalls of not having a plan and a strategy for dealing with the media. Also we can give you some practical experience in handling the type of aggressive calls that you and your staff might receive should the unthinkable happen.

Workshop Schedule:
Stamford: 19 March, Westin Stamford Hotel, 0830-1130 hours
London: 25 March, The Baltic Exchange, 1400-1700 hours
Hong Kong, China: 8 November (venue tba)
The course fee is USD 800.
