Advice on carriage of Oil Cargoes - New Service to Members

INTERTANKO would offer a much better assistance on oil cargo and bunker related inquiries from Members.

This new service is offered trough a recent Consultancy Agreement between INTERTANKO and Dr Timothy Gunner. Through his Agreement Contract, Dr. Gunner will become a regular Consultant to INTERTANKO and its Membership for cargo and vessel operational problems. He will supply advises to Shipowners regarding problems encountered during the operation of vessels.

Dr. Gunner has an impressive combination of theoretical knowledge and operational experience with oil cargoes. Dr. Gunner obtained a Ph.D. at University of Wales in 1993 after submitting and satisfactorily defended a thesis entitled "Pollution Control for Crude oil tankers and the Accuracy in the Calculation of their cargoes". Dr Gunner also has seagoing experience holding a First Officers Certificate with sea time completed for Master's Certificate.

Dr. Gunner was appointed in 1995 as an Associate Professor for Oil and Tanker Technology at Vestfold College, Maritime Department. He was undertaking Full Time Research into the thermo-physical behaviour of crude oil during its carriage by sea under an Industrially/Government/Norwegian Research Council funded (INTERTANKO co-sponsor) project entitled " The Physical Behaviour of Crude Oil influencing its Carriage by Sea"(CRUCOGSA). Dr. Gunner assisted INTERTANKO in 1998 with a submission to IMO for the alteration of the MARPOL Regulation's guidelines for Crude Oil Washing.
