IMO’S LIST OF NATIONAL OPERATIONAL CONTACT POINTS IN EVENT OF AN INCIDENT

INTERTANKO has a copy of the most recent IMO Marine and Environmental Protection Committee circular 5. This is the list which hascontains the up- to- date List of the Nnational Ooperational Ccontact Ppoints responsible for the receipt, transmission and processing of urgent reports on incidents involving harmful substances, including oil from ships to coastal states.

This information is required to enable compliance with regulation 26 of Annex I of MARPOL, which requires that the shipboard oil pollution emergency plans shall contain a list of authorities or persons to be contacted in the event of an oil pollution incident.  This document updates the list previously provided by IMO on 18 February 1999.

The List of National Operational Contact points is available on the Internet and can be accessed as follows:  http://www.imo.org/imo/circs/intro.htm   The version of the List on the internet will be updated as changes and amendments are received.  The printed copy of the list will be updated and re-issued annually.  The Internet version will have a summary page to indicate the changes and amendments made since the last update.

INTERTANKO is aware that this list is being checked by vetting inspectors when undertaking SIRE inspections.
