PANAMA CANAL LOCK UPDATE

Panama Canal, Gatun and Pedro Miguel Locks update

Please be advised that, based on the recent upsurge in vessel arrivals, the Panama Canal Authority (PCA) has decided to postpone by two weeks the Gatun Locks centre wall culvert outage.  This action is taken to fully work off any backlog prior to the start of the outage.  The Gatun Locks culvert and Pedro Miguel Locks lane outage schedule is now as follows:

8 May 1800 through 9 May 0600(12 hours); the WEST lane will be out of service to install intake, discharge lateral and bulkheads in all 3 levels for the centre wall culvert outage.  Relay operations on the East lane.  When the lane goes back in service at 0600, there will be single culvert operations on the EAST and WEST lanes (add 25 minutes per lockage).

9 May at 0600 through 25 May 1800(17 days); there will be single culvert operations in both EAST and WEST lanes (add 25 minutes per lockage on each lane) for the overhaul of valves in the centre wall culvert.

26 May 1800 through 27 May 0600(12 hours); the WEST lane will be out of service to remove intake, discharge and lateral bulkheads in all 3 levels.  Relay operations on the East lane.  When the West lane goes back in service at 0600, there will be normal culvert operations on the EAST and WEST lanes.
