Since the launching of the new EQUASIS database, INTERTANKO has received a number of inquiries from members asking how can access the database.

The EQUASIS database is available at .

Aiming at encouraging widespread use and increasing its efficiency, the subscription to the information provided is free of charge for an interim period (Year 2000). However, INTERTANKO members and associate members need to register themselves on-line in order to be able to access the ship characteristics and ship management published information by using the ship search function appearing at the bottom of the left-hand side menu of the website.

The Registration function appears exactly above the ship search function and members and associate members will be given a user name and password. At the moment, the ship search function is based on three main parameters: the IMO number,Name of ship,Call Sign.

Once the request for information for a particular ship is submitted to the ship search, then the following information is displayed :


Name of ship, IMO number, Call Sign, Gross tonnage, Type of ship, Year of build

Flag, Status of ship, Registered owner, Ship manager, Fleet manager

Classification: Classification society,  Date of record,  Status, Reason

Safety Management Certificate (IACS white list): Audited by, Issued by, Issued on, Expires on, Status

P&I Information: Name of P&I, Recorded on


PSC Organisation, Authority, Port of inspection, Date of report, Detention, Duration (days), Number of deficiencies, All deficiencies rectified  

Association membership:  Association (e.g. INTERTANKO), Date of record

Please note that the present version of the EQUASIS database has been based on data supplied by providers representing public authorities and industry associations. The list with the names of providers is available at the Providers menu of the home site.

It is therefore highly recommended that members and associate members should check out the accuracy of the published information and provide any appropriate feedback to EQUASIS Management Unit staff by either using the following e-mail or by using the following fax number (+33 2 99 82 78 84) attaching any relevant documents.
