Australia – Sydney pilotage charges reduced

For the second time in just over a year the pilotage charges at Sydney Ports have been reduced.  Contractor Sydney Sea Pilots reduced its charges by 2.5% the first week of July 2000 to complete a two-stage overall reduction of 5% since May 1999.

The latest cut does not affect the minimum AUS 350.00 (USD 211) and maximum AUS 2,560.00 charges posted last year.  This means that vessels over 29,257 GT will have their pilotage charge capped at AUS 2,560.  According to CEO Greg Martin Sydney’s pilotage charges are cheaper than at the competing ports of Melbourne and Brisbane.
