EGYPT/SUEZ CANAL – DOCUMENTS FOR REBATE APPLICATIONS ON TRANSIT FEES
The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has issued a reminder concerning the correct preparation of documents when applying for rebates on transit fees.

In a bid to ease the process, the SCA has issued three standard forms for such applications:  ORIGIN PORT CERTIFICATE - DESTINATION PORT CERTIFICATE - PRINCIPAL’S CLAIMS.

MEXICO/CAYO ARCAS – INCREASE OF PORT DUES
The port dues for buoys 1,2 & 3 were increased to MXP 1.82/GT as from 1 October 2000.

MEXICO/DOS BOCAS – INCREASE OF PORT DUES
The port dues were increased to MXP 3.35/GT as from 1 October 2000.

SOUTH AFRICA – TARIFF INCREASE
COURT HELICOPTERS, which handles all off-shore operations to vessels passing Cape Town, increased their tariff by 2% as from 1 October 2000.
This follows a rise of about 5.5% plus 5% fuel levy in the tariff charged for launch operations off Cape Town and Durban.  The new levy came into effect 14 August 2000.
LIGHT DUES at all South African ports were increased by 2% 1 September 2000.

VENEZUELA/JOSE TERMINAL – FIXED TERMINAL FEE
Due to a recent tariff revision a fixed terminal fee of USD 45,000 plus 14.5% VAT has been implemented at the Petrozuata SBM, Jose Terminal.
