Congo – curfew after attempted coup
As a result of the attempted coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo on 16 January 2001, a curfew has been imposed from 2200 hours till 0600 hours. The airport was re-opened already 17 January. It is reported that port operations in the neighbouring countries have not been affected by the coup attempt.

Singapore – notification of arrival on e-mail
A vessel arriving Singapore from a nearby port with less than 12 hours’ steaming shall immediately on departure from such a port transmit arrival notification to the Port Master by means of telegram, telex or fax. With immediate effect, in addition to the above, a notification is to be sent to the Port Master by e-mail noa@mpa.gov.sg

USA/Houston – scheduled closure of the ship channel
VTS Houston/Galveston will allow no vessel movements in the Houston Ship Channel (HSC) in the vicinity of the power lines crossing the Houston Ship Channel near GATX Plant in Galena Park beginning on 27 January 2001 and ending 2 February 2001 from 0930 to 1330 hours on each day.
