SECOND MEETING OF THE INTERTANKO ASIAN VETTING REFERENCE FORUM IN SINGAPORE

Some 28 participants from member companies attended the INTERTANKO Asian Vetting Reference Forum held in Singapore on 27 November which was chaired by Capt Howard Snaith, INTERTANKO's Marine Manager. Representatives from the OCIMF Asia Pacific Terminal Forum, Shell and the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore were also present.

A lively discussion on issues and a good exchange of information and feedback to INTERTANKO's vetting work programme took place during the 6-hour meeting, which included: a presentation of SIRE data, an update on oil majors' vetting requirements, a report on the feedback from oil majors with regard to new vessel inspection requirements, presentation of the INTERTANKO revised vetting inspection feedback forms and vetting clauses, CDI issues, and Port State Control issues.

On the regional front, several issues were covered including vetting by the independent terminals in Singapore, the underkeel clearance on deep draught vessels transiting the Straits of Malacca and Singapore, and the Singapore Marine Academy's Vetting Awareness Training Courses for non-SIRE personnel.
