Insurance Issues facing the tanker industry today will be looked at, including the impact of September 11th (Hedley French, Jardine Lloyd Thompson Risk Solutions) and the Insurance Committee's perspective on recent developments (Geoff Woodford, N.J. Thereafter attention will turn to environmental challenges facing the tanker industry, with presentations on environmental incentives (Hans de Goej, the Green Award Foundation), air emissions from tankers (Dr Tim Gunner) and INTERTANKO's environmental programme (Tim Wilkins).  In the afternoon current and proposed industry practices concerning multiple inspections will be discussed and presentations will be given by Martin Whittle, Chemical Institute (CDI), Alan Cubbin, Maritime Coast Guard Agency UK and Wilhelm Magelssen, Det Norske Veritas.

In selecting Rotterdam for its Tanker Event 2002, INTERTANKO has chosen a location of vital importance not only to the tanker trade but also to world shipping in general. The Rotterdam Tanker Event presents an opportunity to visit a city with ambitions, determined to remain the largest port in the world. Rotterdam is easily accessible for international travellers, only 45 minutes by train from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, and our preferred hotels, the Westin Rotterdam and the Golden Tulip, are both within walking distance from Rotterdam's Central Station. In addition, Rotterdam airport offers daily flights to and from neighbouring countries.

The Event will be held in the Rotterdam World Trade Centre and offers an opportunity for all delegates to visit a maritime centre in Europe, and at the same time renew old friendships and business relations and discuss issues of importance to the tanker community.
