INTERTANKO DISCUSSES SINGAPORE IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES

The following issues were raised at the meeting:

a/ Increase in cost due to additional vessel movements to and from immigration anchorages and working anchorages;

b/ Congestion at some immigration anchorages;

c/ Decline in the pilotage service levels due to increased vessel movements;

d/ Safety of vessels (i.e. increased risk of marine incidents) due to additional vessel movements; and

e/ Inconvenience due to crew change procedures (i.e. signing on and off crew) in Singapore.
