INTERTANKO has received the following advice from Flota Petrolera Ecuatoriana (FLOPEC) regarding changes to their chartering policy, in force as of 20 August 2002:

1. FLOPEC will no longer charter in, under any modes or circumstances, either Ore Bulk Ore (OBO) vessels or Ore Oil (OO) Vessels

2. As of 1 July 2003, tanker vessels of 15 years or older will need to have a Condition Assessment Programme (CAP) certificate issued by a member of IACS. The CAP rating should be 1 or 2, depending on the classification society.

Additionally, and as per instructions of the state comptroller, payment of freights or freight differentials to FLOPEC must be effected by the charterer during the first five working days after completion of discharge.
