INTERTANKO PRESENTS A PAPER AT SIBCON 2002 IN SINGAPORE

INTERTANKO’s Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific, John Fawcett-Ellis, presented a paper at SIBCON 2002 on 26 September 2002 entitled ‘A customer’s perspective on bunker purchases – what do shipowners expect?’.

The Association’s Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific, John Fawcett-Ellis, presented a paper at SIBCON 2002, the bi-annual international bunkering conference held in Singapore on 26 September 2002. His paper was entitled ‘A customer’s perspective on bunker purchases – what do shipowners expect?’ and concluded: ‘Quality bunkers are crucial to the safety of our crews and our vessels. INTERTANKO will continue to work with its industry colleagues to ensure that vessel operators can rely on the quality of the bunker fuels they order. This quality theme runs through all our discussions whether at IMO, revisions to ISO, CP60 and with respect to contractual liabilities of bunker suppliers. Improvements have been made but there is still work to be done.’

The paper can be viewed here.

It was the first paper of the opening session entitled ‘Customer requirements in the changing world fuel market’, chaired by Zafrul Alam, First Secretary, Singapore High Commission, UK. The conference was well attended by some 450 people from the bunker industry.
