Annual Meeting of the Chemical Carriers Association (CCA)

INTERTANKO’s MD Peter Swift and Technical Director Dragos Rauta attended the Annual Meeting of the Chemical Carriers' Association (CCA) in Houston on 21-22 November. The delegates included many representatives of companies which are members or associate members of both CCA and INTERTANKO.

Peter Swift described the objectives, structure and work programme of INTERTANKO, highlighting some of the challenges to be met in ensuring that the membership in shipping associations is well served, and the approaches being taken on issue management. In his presentation, on ‘Meeting the Regulatory Requirements on Air Emissions’, Dragos Rauta covered recent developments in the regulation of air emissions from ships at the international level, within Europe and within the United States. He also spoke of INTERTANKO’s extensive work programme in this field including the development and promotion of VOCON, our efforts to have Annex VI ratified and enter into force, and our drive for consistent and practical regulation around the globe.

Other subjects discussed at the meeting included maritime security, risk assessment, seamen’s rights, updates on Annex II, ballast water, OSRO, and firefighting and salvage regulations.

Copies of the presentations can be found on the INTERTANKO web site
