Mare Forum discusses priority issues in the Maritime Transportation of Energy

Former INTERTANKO Chairman Richard du Moulin (Intrepid Shipping LLC) co-chaired a successful Mare Forum meeting in Houston 18-19 November 2002.

The sessions included presentations and debate on the short- and long-term world energy requirements, sources and distribution. The second session identified economic, security, environmental and regulatory impacts, while the third session covered the key issues in marine transportation system, capacity in liquid and dry bulk, LNG and the inland waterways. This included a presentation by INTERTANKO MD Peter Swift entitled 'Bulk Liquid Ocean Shipping Issues', which was followed later in the same session by a presentation by INTERTANKO Consultant William Gray (Gray Maritime Co.) on 'INTERTANKO's US Port and Terminal Safety Update 2002’.

The decisions and recommendations of the Forum will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere, and will be available to INTERTANKO members early next month.

Copies of the presentations can be found on the INTERTANKO web site
