Japan develops policy to ban single-hulled tankers

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) intends to develop a policy to ban single-hulled tankers carrying crude and heavy fuel oil from Japanese waters due to the large number of single-hulled tankers being banned by EU nations and en route from Europe to Asia. According to a MLIT official, practical measures and the implementation date will be considered “after EU’s implementation”.
