Gulf: warning to avoid Mina AL-Bakr and Khor Al-Amaya oil terminals

The US National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) has issued a Notice warning mariners to be alert to Iraqi paramilitary forces disguised as civilian vessels in the northern Persian Gulf.

The US National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) issued a Notice warning mariners to be alert to paramilitary forces disguised as civilian vessels in the northern Persian Gulf.  Mariners were advised to avoid the Mina AL-Bakr and Khor Al-Amaya oil terminals and to remain clear off coalition naval units.  Derelict crafts have been reported in the area.   MARLO Advisory Bulletin on Umm Qasr Port Status reports that there is still a low-level threat of underwater explosives, which coalition forces are neutralizing as quickly as possible.   This is a dynamic, rapidly changing situation, but we will attempt to keep members accurately advised through these channels.
