INTERTANKO hosts International Shipowner’s Seminar in Imabari, Japan

INTERCARGO and INTERTANKO arranged a one-day seminar on 15 May in Imabari for regional shipowners, trading houses, financiers and insurers, which attracted over 100 delegates from more than 70 companies.

Speakers included representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, DVB Bank, Class NK, Maritax Law office and Orix. Representing INTERCARGO were Chairman Fred Tsao and Roger Holt, while Peter Swift represented INTERTANKO. The presentations included introductions to the two Associations, their respective organisations and activities, and the objectives and work of the Round Table of Maritime Associations (namely INTERTANKO, Intercargo, ICS and BIMCO). They also covered International Issues for Bulk Shipping, including society’s and charterers’ expectations, changes in the regulatory environment, the chain of responsibility, shipowners’ selection of shipbuilder, class and flag, and a discussion on the Industry’s Direction Paper.

Copies of the presentations from INTERTANKO, Intercargo, the Round Table of Maritime Associations and International Issues for Bulk Shipping are available on our website in English and Japanese –
