INTERTANKO’s Latin American Panel meets in Miami

Regional and international issues discussed at the third meeting of INTERTANKO’s Latin American Panel in Miami on Thursday 24 July.

Hosted by Panel Chairman José Peraza, the third meeting of INTERTANKO’s Latin American Panel included discussions on a wide range of issues. In addition to first-hand updates on the situation in Venezuela, the Panel enjoyed presentations and dialogue with invited guests from the Latin American Agreement on Port State Control (Viña del Mar) and ABS Consulting, and engaged in discussions of topics such as the latest developments from MEPC 49, chemical tanker activities within INTERTANKO, industry image and sharing of information for the benefit of all members of the association. As a representative of INTERTANKO’s Environmental Committee, Panel member Carlos Juan Madinabeitia gave a presentation on the Committee’s current activities and emphasised the particular importance of many of these issues for oil exporting countries in the region. Copies of the presentations, together with a more extensive summary of the meeting will be circulated in the next issue of the Weekly NEWS.
