Executive Committee meet in London

Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Lars Carlsson, INTERTANKO’s Executive Committee met in London on 12 and 13 February 2004. The agenda covered a wide range of issues, not least key INTERTANKO policy matters including the work undertaken on the revisions to Annex II of MARPOL and maritime security.

Over the course of the two-day meeting, the Executive Committee completed discussion on a lengthy agenda but remained focused on the Association’s policy issues. In light of the recently completed study regarding the amendments to Annex II of MARPOL, the Executive Committee noted the extensive work undertaken to complete this study and agreed that it should help facilitate an informed discussion at IMO regarding the impact of the Annex II revisions.

Further discussion at the meeting developed from reports given regarding INTERTANKO’s recent activities on maritime security, activity in the US and the Far East offices, membership criteria and the evaluation of detention reports, together with an update on European and IMO related issues.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee is due to take place on 28 March 2004 in Dubai.
