The 47th session of the Subcommittee on Ship Design and Equipment  runs for eight days. Key items on the agenda with relevance to tankers are Permanent Means of Access, fuel tank protection, pump room protection, free-fall lifeboats, performance of protective coatings.

FSI12 at IMO, 15-19 March 2004, London

The 12th session of the Subcommittee on Flag State Implementation runs for five days. Key items on the agenda will be the model audit scheme and reception facilities.

EP hearing on Barents Sea oil, 16 March 2004, Brussels

The European Parliament’s hearing on oil exploration and transportation in the Barents Sea will take place on 16 March 2004. INTERTANKO’s deputy managing director Svein Ringbakken will be making a presentation addressing the issues from the tanker owners’ perspective.

ICOPCE,  22-24 March 2004, Singapore

The International Chemical and Oil Pollution Conference and Exhibition starts March 22nd at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore. Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, this event focuses inter alia on oil and chemical pollution issues (prevention and preparedness), the OPRC/HNS/Bunker Conventions/Protocols, crisis management, heavy oil recovery technology.
