EurOCEAN 2004 Conference, 10-13 May 2004, Galway, Ireland

A European conference on Marine Science and Ocean Technology. This marine science policy conference, organised as an Irish EU Presidency Event, provides a forum for policy makers and strategic planners from EU and MemberState administrations to mix with the marine research community and other maritime stakeholders. INTERTANKO’s Environmental Manager Tim Wilkins will make one of the keynote presentations on ‘Tanker Transport and Ocean Environment’.

INTERTANKO lecture on ‘The needs and effects of incident management and media response plans’, 13 May 2004, Athens.

This Athens lecture, which is free to INTERTANKO members, should not be missed as it provides a unique look behind the scenes of a major casualty. The lecture will take place on 13 May 2004 (1100 to 1300 hours) on the premises of Tsakos Shipping and Trading, Megaron Makedonia, 367 Syngrou Ave., P. Faliro. IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (78), 12-21 May, London

HNS Convention Workshop, 19 May 2004, Barcelona

A one-day workshop entitled ‘Managing the Risk’ co-sponsored/organised by Mare Forum, OCIMF and Total. Delegates will look at how the correct handling of hazardous and noxious substances is so important for the shipping industry. They will take an overview of the Convention, then will discuss and clarify the main issues, and look at insurance and incident response.

INTERTANKO’s Managing Director Dr Peter Swift and Deputy Managing Director Svein Ringbakken will both be members of the Discussion Panels.

Reception, 19 May 2004, Shanghai, hosted by INTERTANKO’s Chairman
