1. Deputy Manager (Marine and Technical)

INTERTANKO is seeking a Deputy Manager (Marine and Technical), to be based in London, to assist the Marine & Chemical Director and the Technical Director.

The employment may take the form of a permanent position. Alternatively INTERTANKO would also consider suitable candidates on secondment from INTERTANKO members' staff for a minimum period of 2 years. This would be a good training and experience opportunity both for the right candidate and for his/her company.

It is envisaged that a suitable candidate will have a practical, hands-on, working knowledge of oil and chemical tankers; will ideally have sailed as an engineering or deck officer on tankers; will have a good working knowledge of the various international rules and regulations affecting oil and chemical tankers. A similar familiarity with the dry bulk trades would be considered very favourably.

Effective communication skills are essential, both in the written and spoken word. Candidates should be competent in English, and additional languages would be an advantage. Practical experience, initiative and a willingness to learn and participate in the work of an energetic and busy team providing professional support to INTERTANKO members are crucial attributes for the right person for this exciting opportunity, and will be key factors in the selection of the successful candidate.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and London posting.

2. In-house Counsel

INTERTANKO is seeking a 0-5 PQE shipping lawyer to be based at its London office reporting to its General Counsel.

This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer that has experience of claims handling and in particular disputes concerning tanker charterparties; a knowledge of the tanker industry would be desirable.

The successful candidate should have good drafting skills, an interest in the development of shipping law and a willingness to participate in seminars.
