New ship for Middle East Navigation Aids Services (MENAS)

MENAS’ new multi-role vessel Relume was named this week by Chantal Mitropoulos, wife of the IMO Secretary General, at the Damen Yard at Vlissingen in the Netherlands. Efthimios Mitropoulos was also present at the ceremony, as were INTERTANKO’s Chairman, Stephen Van Dyck, and his wife, Janice, together with other senior representatives of the international maritime associations. The new ship, in addition to its traditional role of buoy handling and lights maintenance, is equipped for oil pollution recovery, diving support and hydrographic research work.
