2 December, INTERTANKO Iberian Peninsular Seminar, Madrid

In addition to providing a forum for the exchange of information and experience, the objectives of this INTERTANKO seminar are to update delegates on recent developments in INTERTANKO’s work programme and to look at crisis response.

At a panel session on ‘Emergency Plans and Crisis Communications’ INTERTANKO’s Chairman, Stephen Van Dyck, will address the importance of responding quickly and effectively to an industry incident, ensuring inter alia that the necessary measures are taken to protect the industry’s public image and mitigate damage to its reputation. Nick Brown from MTI Network will in addition advise on how to coordinate and control your response to an incident and establish clear lines of communication with the relevant parties, authorities, media and other responders.

2 December, ITOPF International Seminar on Oil Spill Preparedness, Response and Compensation in association with INTERTANKO, Madrid

Following the INTERTANKO Iberian Peninsular Seminar, the ITOPF seminar in the afternoon will address various topical issues related to preparing for and responding to accidental spills of oil and other substances from ships, as well as looking at liability and compensation. These meetings will bring together senior representatives from the world’s shipping and marine insurance industries. If you would like to attend, please complete the registration forms below. 7 December, meeting of the INTERTANKO Chemical Tanker Subcommittee (Americas), Houston

The next meeting of the INTERTANKO Chemical Tanker Subcommittee (Americas) (CTSCA) will be held at the Odfjell USA offices in Houston, Texas, on 7 December 2004. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Issues to be discussed will include:

  • A dialogue with the Captain of the Port (COTP) Houston
  • MARPOL Annex II - Implementation issues, current cargo classification problems, real impact on industry
  • Classification and handling of waxes under MARPOL Annex II
  • Rejuvenating the dialogue with the shippers before and after MARPOL Annex II - focusing on U.S. and other Administrations
  • Preparation for a seminar/meeting - June 2005
  • HOGANSAC (Houston Galveston Area Navigation and Safety Advisory Committee).update
  • Any other issues the Committee wishes to discuss

13 December, Round Table Christmas buffet lunch, London

There will be a Christmas buffet lunch hosted by the Round Table of international shipping associations at INTERTANKO’s office in London.

14 December, IACS Council and Round Table joint meeting, London

There will be a meeting of the IACS Council and the Round Table of international shipping associations in London at a venue to be decided.

20 April 2005, Chemical Tanker Committee meeting, London

The next meeting of the Chemical Tanker Committee (CTC#24) will be held on Wednesday, 20 April 2005, at the INTERTANKO London Office.

The Minutes of the Extraordinary meeting of the CTC, which dealt with chemical accidents, have now been approved by the Committee and are available on the INTERTANKO web site (click here to download). The Agenda for the recent CTC #23 meeting is also available (click here to download) and the Minutes of this meeting will shortly be available once approved by the Committee.
