    Massachusetts unilateral oil spill legislation signed by Governor

    On Wednesday, 4 August 2004 , Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney signed into law state oil spill legislation that was drafted in response to a 2003 barge spill in Buzzard's Bay.     New Jersey to consider State law for double hulls

    Suez Canal Northbound tanker transits up (significant increase for 50-100,000 dwt sizes) but Southbound VL transits down

    The above graph shows that the number of northbound Suez Canal transits increased slightly in 2004 compared to 2003.
