INTERTANKO Executive Committee meets in London

INTERTANKO’s Executive Committee met this week under the chairmanship of Stephen Van Dyck. Held at the INTERTANKO London Office, the Executive Committee started by extending its sympathy and condolences to the family of Mr. K. H. Koo, previous Vice Chairman of the Committee.

Completing a broad-reaching agenda, the Executive Committee agreed on further action on key policy issues including the possible revisions to the oil pollution compensation regime; the Massachusetts oil spill legislation proposal; European issues relating to criminal sanctions and competition rules.

The Executive Committee meeting was scheduled between the meeting of the Communications and PR (CPR) Committee, held the previous day, and that of INTERTANKO’s Safety, Technical and Environmental Committee (ISTEC), held on Friday and Saturday of this week. Stefano Rosina, CPR Committee Chairman and Executive Committee member, was able to report on the progress with respect to INTERTANKO’s activity in managing the image of the industry and the progress being made with the Maritime Industries Foundation (MIF). In addition, Dean Tseretopoulos, Chairman of ISTEC, was also able to guide the Executive Committee in its consideration of the Joint Tanker Project (JTP).
