INTERTANKO’s Asian Regional Panel meets in Hong Kong

On 24 February the Chairman hosted a dinner for members and guests at the Hong Kong Club. 

INTERTANKO’s Asian Regional Panel met last week in Hong Kong under the chairmanship of Dr JH Lee, SK Shipping. The Panel is an important forum for members to meet and exchange views on key issues facing the industry. The Association’s Chairman emphasised the importance of the Asian region to the Association and its commitment to increase activity in the region. The Panel recorded its sincere appreciation to its founding Chairman, Mr KH Koo, who passed away in January. Mr Koo had been the godfather of INTERTANKO in Asia. The panel welcomed its new Chairman, Dr JH Lee. 

INTERTANKO’s Managing Director Peter Swift reported on the current activities of the Association.General Counsel/Regional Manager John Fawcett-Ellis reported on the activities of INTERTANKO, Asia and the growth in membership in the region. He then went on to give presentations on the International oil spill liability and compensation regime, the draft EU criminal sanctions directive and the Canadian criminal sanctions bill.
