Oil companies, regulators, brokers, analysts, lawyers will come to Athens to speak to INTERTANKO’s assembled throng

A broad and varied range of speakers will be assembled to address INTERTANKO’s members, associate members and guests who will be gathered in Athens 10-13 April. 

From the oil companies – David Cotterell from Shell; Ian Hunter from ExxonMobil; Simon Lisieki from BP; Bertrand Thouilin from TotalFinaElf. 

From the regulators - Andreas Chrysostomou, Chairman of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), Greg Linsin from the Environmental Crimes Section, U.S. Department of Justice; Ib Matthiesen from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA); Fred Wall, Chairman of the MSC’s Maritime Security Working Group; a speaker to be confirmed from the European Commission. 

From the shipbrokers – Roberto Crivari from EA Gibson; Finn Engelsen from Lorentzen & Stemoco; Louisa Follis from SSY; Iain Shaw from Braemar Seascope; Dr Martin Stopford from Clarksons. 

From the researchers and analysts – Magnus Fyhr from Jefferies & Co; John Kartsonas from Citigroup; Odd Anker Hassel from Cambridge Energy Research Associates. 

And a host of other distinguished speakers from shipowners, lawyers, port state control, classification societies, industry associations, ships’ agency, journalists, and a derivatives exchange. 

We will welcome students of the maritime industry from PiraeusUniversity and AthensUniversity, some of whom will also be speaking. They are representatives of the shipping industry of tomorrow.  

A social programme starting with the Welcome Reception hosted by Ceres Hellenic, continuing with breakfasts sponsored by Det Norske Veritas, lunches hosted by Eletson, Lloyd’s Register and Tsakos, and an informal dinner put on by NASDAQ in the relaxed atmosphere of the modern waterside Kitchen Bar. 

A series of guided outings to the Acropolis, CapeSounion and the Kotokos Vineyard have been organised for delegates’ wives. 

The highlight of the Event will be Tuesday evening in the modern marbled splendour of the Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall. A cocktail reception hosted by Clarksons; the gala dinner sponsored by American Bureau of Shipping; and traditional Greek dancing from the world-famous Lykeion Ellinidon organised by our Greek members.
