Athens Tanker Event adds senior politicians to the menu

Not content with fielding five of the best market and financial analysts in the business giving papers in the market session, four classification society presidents/chairmen as speakers/delegates, three oil company executives as speakers, two committee and working group chairmen from the IMO, and the Assistant Chief from the Environmental Crimes Section at the U.S. Department of Justice, to be present at the Association's Athens Tanker Event next week, members of INTERTANKO's Hellenic Committee have now organised top Greek politicians to come and speak to the international tanker community gathered in Greece.

Greece's Minister of Tourism, Mr Dimitris Avramopoulos is representing the Greek Government and the Prime Minister to welcome INTERTANKO's members and their guests at its Annual Dinner in the fabulous marble Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall.

In addition the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine, Professor John Tzoannos, is representing Greece's Ministry of Mercantile Marine to greet delegates at the regulatory session 'Doing business in today's regulatory environment'.

This exceptional gathering of the tanker industry will not only discuss together many of the key issues of the day, but has set itself the task of gathering the thoughts of each conference session into a vision statement where responsible, practical, effective and proactive eco-thinking are the norm; where risks are controlled and danger is avoided; and a commitment to quality is motivated by a genuine interest in environmental stewardship.

This statement will be launched when delegates, speakers and their guests leave the last conference session.

Be sure to join us in Athens next week.
