Members requested to complete IT Questionnaire to assist in defining IT Committee’s agenda

At its meeting last week in INTERTANKO’s Oslo office, the Association’s IT Committee nominated Eyvind Klewe, Manager of Information Services for Broström Tankers Ltd., as its Chairman to succeed Richard Hext, former CEO of the Marine Services Division of V. Ships. His nomination will be formally submitted to the Council for election at its next meeting in November 2005.

The IT Committee’s principal aim is to provide an open forum for its members to exchange information and experience in Information Technology. As a first step towards the Committee’s objective, an IT Questionnaire will be sent-out to all members this week so that the IT Committee can gain a better understanding of the role of IT in our members’ organisations and the IT issues that members face.

The questionnaire seeks to collate information on the various marine applications in use; to determine the size of the IT organisations of its members; to obtain feedback on experiences of IT to date.

The Committee will also request its members to identify which IT issues over the next 3 years they consider to be of most concern or of greatest potential value to them.

This questionnaire will assist in setting the agenda for the IT Committee over the next 12 months, and will enable the Committee to focus its resources on the issues most relevant to its members. Information received from members will be treated confidentially, and all answer sheets will be kept by the Secretariat. A summary of the replies will be reported back to those members who have completed the questionnaire.
