Corporate criminalisation of shipowners and the sovereign rights of EU Member States to be highlighted in London Lecture

An impressive array of speakers has been lined up for the eighth Cadwallader Annual Memorial Lecture, organised by the London Shipping Law Centre, to be held at Lloyd's of London at 17.30 on Tuesday 4 October 2005. 

The Rt. Hon. Lord Hoffman will lead a panel of guest speakers in a discussion on "The Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction in Criminal Cases: Sovereign Rights in Legislation and New Risks for the Shipping Industry".  

The panel will include the Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Clarke, Master of the Rolls designate; Fotis Karamitsos, Director, Maritime and River Transport, Intermodality, Directorate General for Energy and Transport, European Commission; Dr. Thomas Mensah, former law of the sea tribunal judge; and Pandy Embiricos, Chairman of the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee and INTERTANKO member.
