Thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard staff for their tireless efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina

INTERTANKO and INTERCARGO have this week written on behalf of the membership of both organisations to Admiral Tom Collins, Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, to express our admiration and thanks for the tireless, and even self-sacrificing efforts of the Coast Guard during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

This work has been carried out when they themselves, and their families, have been directly affected. The Coast Guard Foundation is accepting contributions to help support the 2,200 men and women of the Coast Guard in the Gulf States that have suffered most - individuals who have been conducting rescues and restoring ports and waterways while their own homes were also in need.

The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Program is accepting contributions on line at http://www.cgmahq.org/
