Istanbul Tanker Event 2008 – Array of top speakers already confirmed

As previously announced, the Tanker Event will take place at the Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, 20-23 April 2008.

It will be the first time INTERTANKO’s Annual Event will be taking place in Turkey, which is an important/strategic position in the Mediterranean, Russian, Middle Eastern area, and thus of utmost importance for world oil and tanker trades.

A full four-day programme has been scheduled, including various Focus Sessions covering the most important topics tanker owners face today, as well as an informative Oil and Tanker Market Session with top speakers to provide delegates with the very latest in market developments.

We are very pleased to be able to announce that the following keynote speakers have been secured: Metin Kalkavan, Chairman, Turkish Chamber of Shipping, Suay Umut, President, Dunya Denizcilik Ve Ticaret and Mohammad Souri, Chairman, NITC. We also anticipate that His Excellency Binali Yildirim, Minister of Transportation, Government of the Republic of Turkey, will open the Event.

For the Oil and Tanker Market Session, another selection of top speakers have agreed to speak:  Erik Andersen, Research Director, RS Platou Shipbrokers AS, Henry Curra, Head of Research, ACM Shipping Ltd; Lawrence Eagles, Head Oil Industry and Markets Division, International Energy Agency (IEA) (invited), and Tina Gilje, researcher, Inge Steensland AS.

The 2008 Poseidon Challenge meeting will bring in some new top-level commitments to continuous improvement and to working together with other links in the chain of responsibility, and will follow-up on some of the specific commitments made in 2007. There will be a focus on the Human Element as the shipping industry seeks to 'raise the bar' even further, with a Toolbox Workshop Session to help apply continuous improvement strategies in your company.

The month of April is a excellent time to visit Turkey. It promises to be a very busy week. A number of rooms at a special rate have been blocked at the Swissôtel The Bosphorus. Please register and book your hotel before 15 February 2008.
