Reminder - 11 August 2007 - North Sea & English Channel become SECAs under the EU Directive

MARPOL Annex VI has designated the Baltic Sea (on 19 May 2006) and the North Sea (including the English Channel ) (on 22 November 2007) as Sulphur Emissions Control Areas (SECAs). In accordance with Regulation 14 of Annex VI to MARPOL, ships entering these SECAs are required to use marine fuels with a sulphur content not exceeding 1.5% m/m. Increasing oil price and declining freight rates
