Korean Register hosts International Shipping Conference

The first Seoul International Maritime and Shipbuilding Conference was held this week under the auspices of the Korean Register of Shipping. The conference brought together some 150 representatives of the Korean shipping, shipbuilding and related industries, together with representatives of the international industries and associations.

 

Keynote speakers included the current IACS Chairman and Chairman/CEO of the Korean Register, Kong-Gyun Oh; the Korean Vice-Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Jae-Gyoon Lee; the Chairmen of the Korean Shipowners’ Association and Korean Shipbuilders’ Association.

 

The opening presentation was made by INTERTANKO’s Managing Director, Dr Peter Swift who chaired one of the two sessions. Swift spoke on ‘Issues and Challenges facing Tanker Shipping’. To see his full presentation click here

 

Other speakers included senior representatives of the international ship owners’ associations, oil companies, classification societies, insurers, the media and the Korean Maritime Institute.
