Industry seminar on Quality Shipping, Safety & Environmental Performance

Since its establishment in 1994, the Green Award Foundation has been going strong and contributed significantly to the promotion of the quality in shipping by encouraging owners to have, on a voluntary basis, their offices audited and vessels surveyed to comply with high, but manageable, technical and managerial requirements.

For its 15th Anniversary, the Green Award Foundation, in conjunction with OCIMF, INTERTANKO and INTERCARGO, is organising a one-day seminar in Dubai on 19 January 2009 to take a moment of reflection and review what is happening in the world and discuss how can shipping remain frontrunners regarding safety, environmental and quality issues.

An extensive array of speakers has been arranged including:

  • Miguel Palomares, Director of the Marine Environment Division, International Maritime Organization (IMO): IMO's view on ship emissions and air quality
  • Hans Meijer, Policy Officer, Clean air and transport, European Union: EU approach to reduction of GHG's from ships / ETS
  • Phil Davies, Director, Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF): TMSA, Green Award and more
