U.S. reminder to chemical manufacturers about information deadline to avoid bulk carriage ban

INTERTANKO has expressed concern that as a result of chemical data still being missing from the IBC Code, certain products will not be permitted to be carried in bulk by sea from 2007. Our liaison with the U.S. Coast Guard has prompted them to remind manufacturers of the approaching deadline to supply this missing information.

In Federal Regulation 70 Fed. Reg. 70861 the U.S. Coast Guard reminds manufacturers of certain chemicals carried in bulk in ships of the 31 December 2005 deadline to supply missing safety or pollution data for the revised International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code).
