Course: Managing Environmental Risk in Marine Operations (MERMO)

The Warsash Maritime Academy is now offering a new environmental course designed to raise awareness and minimise risk.

This is a four-day course (Monday September 10 at 12.30 to Friday September 15 at 12.00) aimed at marine managers and senior shipboard officers. It provides an outline of relevant legislation, indicates how easy it is for ships to pollute the marine environment and describes simple on-board management techniques used to avoid the occurrence of pollution.

The course also outlines how ships are targeted for Port State Control inspections, describes the oil pollution detection methods used by flag/port states, and gives simple steps to minimise the consequences should pollution occur. Case studies feature heavily on Day 2-3.

Course cost: £825 per person. Accommodation can be provided on site at additional cost.

Course numbers: Minimum 8 – Maximum 16 delegates
