BP HAVE EXTENDED THEIR LIST OF CURRENTLY RECOGNISED CAP PROVIDERS

Further to earlier advice regarding BP's Fatigue analysis and CAP requirements as posted on our web site at http://www.intertanko.com/marine/issue.asp?topic_id=113, we have been advised that BP have extended their list of currently recognised CAP providers to include Bureau Veritas and ClassNK (NKK). Both these providers have now successfully shown that their CAP schemes can fulfil BP's requirements.

In the past, BP have expected CAP reports and fatigue assessments to be submitted by owners within 10 weeks of completion of the CAP survey. This 'period of grace' was set following consultation with the CAP providers. BP advise that it has become apparent that this may have been too restrictive and have therefore extended this period to three (3) months.

Furthermore, where an intermediate statement can be produced, to include CAP rating, executive summary of the CAP survey and fatigue assessment, with confirmation that "hot spots" identified have been addressed as recommended, this period may be extended up to four (4) months.  There will, however, be no extensions allowed to this period.

We extend our thanks to BP for supplying us with this information and allowing us to pass this on to our membership.
