Brazilian Maritime Authority encouraged to access CDI database

Further to our recent advice regarding the positive response received from the Brazilian Maritime Authority (BMA) regarding access to and utilisation of SIRE reports in Brazil using electronic methods, we have now received advice from the Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) that although the “Port State Control Agreement” between CDI and the Director’s Office Ports & Coasts Brazil was signed and in place, as was the “The Ship Owners Confidentiality Agreement” (submitted by INTERTANKO), access to the CDI database had not yet been made.

INTERTANKO has therefore written a further letter to the BMA (click here to download) reminding them of the agreements and offering assistance either directly or via CDI to enable them to access the CDI database. Members will be kept informed of further developments.
