Indian requirements relating to tankers visiting Indian port

We continue to receive a number of enquiries regarding the current status of the Indian requirements relating to tankers visiting Indian Ports.

INTERTANKO was heavily involved in this issue and directed considerable effort to DG Shipping in India to ensure that the chemical tankers in particular were removed from the requirements of the initial S.D. Circular No.7 (see article in Weekly NEWS No. 28 of 11 July 2003.)

Due to the co-ordinated and concerted efforts of INTERTANKO and our council members in India, DG Shipping issued a revised circular (S.D. Circular No.8 – Click here to view), which removed the requirements for chemical tankers to comply. We remain grateful to DG Shipping for listening and responding to the points raised by INTERTANKO.
