Joint ministerial declaration on port state control applies pressure to substandard vessels

Transport Canada has issued a News Release stating that Canada and over 40 other countries and international organisations from Europe and the Pacific Rim have signed a declaration on port state control. The parties represent the Paris and Tokyo Memoranda of Understanding on Port State Control.

The goal of the new declaration is to apply increasing pressure on operators of substandard ships and undertake new proactive policies.
