MSC/Circ. 1156 on "Guidance on the access of public authorities, emergency response services and pilots on board ships to which SOLAS Chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code apply"

At the 80th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC80) (11 to 20 May 2005), the Committee, in an effort to assist those concerned with the matter, approved the Guidance on the access of public authorities, emergency response services and pilots on board ships to which SOLAS chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code apply, as set out at the annex to MSC/Circ 1156.

INTERTANKO has reason to believe that INTERTANKO's earlier reference to MSC/Circ. 1156 may have gone unnoticed by some members and we therefore issue this advice for added focus.

This circular should be read in conjunction with MSC/Circ. 1112 on "Shore leave and access to ships under the ISPS Code", to which it relates.

INTERTANKO again encourages members to report their experiences with the above issues, which we understand still cause problems for our members. Kindly use the Joint Industry Feedback Form on Maritime Security. Members’ input will enable INTERTANKO and its industry partners to take appropriate action.
