Nor-Shipping: INTERTANKO speaks at ISM Seminar

INTERTANKO’s Marine and Chemical Director, Howard Snaith, presented a paper entitled ‘ISM - the tanker owners’ perspective’ at the session ‘The users’ perspective" chaired by Sigmund Inge Eriksen.

INTERTANKO’s Marine and Chemical Director, Howard Snaith, presented a paper entitled ‘ISM - the tanker owners’ perspective’ at the session ‘The users’ perspective" chaired by Sigmund Inge Eriksen, Senior Advisor for the International Forum for Safety and Health at Sea.

The paper was compiled after the views had been sought of the INTERTANKO Vetting Committee, who work closely with ISM on tankers on a daily basis.

For some time INTERTANKO has monitored the performance of our members’ ships by reviewing and assessing detentions. The Paris MoU and Tokyo MoU have recently published their reports (See Weekly NEWS articles of last week here and here which are useful as a tool for assessment and problem identification. Captain Snaith told the audience that not surprisingly the tanker owner is shown as the best operator from all ship types and concluded that the ISM Code works in the INTERTANKO fleet.
