PIRACY ALERT – SOMALIA (NE and Eastern Coast) 

Thirty five (35) incidents have been reported since 15.03.05. Heavily armed pirates are now attacking ships further away from the coast. Ships not making scheduled calls at Somali ports are advised to keep at least 200 nm from the Somali coast. 

Piracy Report 

The following is a list of areas where an actual attack took place in the period 13 - 19 December 2005, as reported by the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) Piracy Reporting Centre. A more detailed description of each incident can be found in the IMB website. 

Suspicious craft: 

Off eastern coast of Somalia (03:01.9N - 051:17.7E) 

Recently reported incidents: 

Gulf of Aden (12:12.8N - 046:10.8E)

Dar Es Salaam OPL anchorage, Tanzania (06:44.7S - 039:20.2E)

Dar Es Salaam outer anchorage, Tanzania 

Late report: 

07.12.2005 off Hobyo, east coast of Somalia
