Piracy Report 

The following is a list of areas where an actual attack took place in the period 4 – 10 April 2006, as reported by the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) Piracy Reporting Centre. A more detailed description of each incident can be found in the IMB website. 

ALERT I – Somalia - NE and Eastern Coast

Forty one (41) incidents have been reported since 15.03.05. Heavily armed pirates are now attacking ships further away from the coast. The IMB advises ships not making scheduled calls at Somali ports to keep at least 200 nm from the Somali coast. 

ALERT II – Bangladesh - Chittagong anchorages “B” and “C”

Eleven (11) incidents have been reported at Chittagong anchorages since 28.01.06. Pirates are targeting ships preparing to anchor when crewmembers are busy. Ships are advised to take extra precautions in this area.
